Q&A

How do I get to Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort?

The best bet is to fly into Liberia (LIR) and hop on a Bodhi shuttle that will take you straight to the resort. Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort can help in arranging transportation for guests flying to and from Liberia or San Jose. Liberia is the closest international airport, approximately 2.5 hours drive from Nosara, and San Jose is approximately a 5 hour drive from Nosara.

One Way Prices To/From Liberia:

  • 1 to 4 people = $150 + 13% tax

  • 5 or more people = $40 + 13% tax per person

When should I fly in and fly out?

We will kick off the retreat at 5pm on Saturday, October 21st. You can fly out anytime on October 25th or you can also arrange to stay after the retreat is over for some extra relaxation.

What if I’ve never done yoga before?

Amy and Mike both teach a mixed level class, so there will be options for all sorts of practitioners. The beauty of retreat classes is that they offer more time to break down poses and explain things, so chances are that everyone will be learning something, no matter your level of experience.

What if I’m gluten-free/low-carb/celiac/raw vegan/sugar-free? What type of food is it?

You’re in good company. Bodhi Tree has delicious food options that can fit your lifestyle. 3 meals a day are included in the daily rates. The Bodhi buffet serves lots of fresh fruit and veggies, and local fish and chicken, their meal plan is based on the philosophy of “from the earth to your plate”, so avoiding preservatives and processed foods. Meals are fresh, plentiful and delicious and can be customized to fit your needs. Note that only dinner on arrival day, and only breakfast on departure day are provided. The daily meal schedule is as follows: Breakfast: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM     Lunch: 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM     Dinner: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Do they have massages?

YES! We highly recommend you pamper yourself and book one of the special healing treatments at Bodhi Tree.

What should I bring?

Bring yoga clothes, a swimsuit or three, along with shorts, tank tops and a lightweight jacket or hoodie since the temperature can drop a few degrees at night. Some other things we recommend bringing are a camera, hat, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray and anything you love from the states.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

Manduka yoga mats and props are offered on site but feel free to bring your own and any other accessories that you like for your practice.

What is the cancellation policy?

All payments are non-refundable. Nobody books a retreat with the intention of canceling it, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits will be granted for failure to attend, complete or for arriving late or leaving early.

BLUE ZONES

Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort is located in one of the world’s Blue Zones©. According to author Dan Buettner, Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula is one of five Blue Zones in the world. A Blue Zone is an area where people live the longest and report the highest levels of well-being. While visiting Nosara, you will feel the resonance of a vibrant, inspiring, and healing energy in this rich subtropical environment.

ABOUT COSTA RICA

Costa Rica is a destination internationally renowned for its friendly and genuine people and spectacular nature. While it may seem remote, Costa Rica is easily accessible from the United States and Canada, and attracts more eco-friendly and holistically oriented tourists each year. “Pura vida” is a characteristic Costa Rican phrase used both as a greeting or farewell, and as an answer to express that things are going well. Pura vida literally means pure life, however, the real meaning is closer to "full of life" or "this is living.” You will quickly see that pura vida is more than just a phrase – it is a way of life for the Ticos (Costa Ricans). You would be hard pressed to find a more friendly and welcoming culture. Costa Rica is not only known for its beauty and ecological tourism, but also as a country whose values reflect many ideals embraced by those of us interested in world peace, environmental preservation, excellent education, and a high standard of health care. Costa Rica is at the forefront of environmental stewardship in Central America. It is committed to a major initiative to decrease its ecological footprint and become a leader in the “green” movement. It is unique in Central America as it has the longest uninterrupted democracy, no standing army in more than 50 years, and a 95% literacy rate. The official language is Spanish, but many of the people speak some English, a required course in all schools. Even though Costa Rica is a small country, it has almost 5% of the world’s biodiversity. Much of the country is set aside forever into protected National Parks, wildlife refuges and nature reserves.
